‘Fit as a Fiddle' is an exciting new project that we are rolling out across Teesside. The aim of this project is to promote Health and Wellbeing with exercise and healthy eating to people aged over fifty. This is part of a national campaign running until 2012. The project is still in its early stages but we already have activities such as walking, carpet bowls and exercise classes. The future plan includes introducing the Nintendo Wii® into the mix; we hope this will be a fun way for our clients to keep active.
In the next twelve months we aim to recruit seventeen Senior Health Mentors, or activity leaders, to provide physical activity sessions to over two hundred people and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through two information events.
